Curriculum

What does your child learn at school?

The intention of our broad and balanced curriculum is to provide the knowledge, skills and cultural capital learners need to succeed in life.

The curriculum is implemented in a 2 yearly cycle which reflects the strengths of our small school structure. The curriculum map objectives show the breadth and progression of learning.  The whole-school curriculum plan  is a dynamic, 'live' document which is regularly reviewed and updated by the staff team; please contact the Office if you would like the current version.

The impact of the implementation of our curriculum is that pupils enjoy developing  detailed knowledge and skills, and achieve well.

Our reading scheme includes a variety of published scheme books to give the breadth of phonic led text, stories and non-fiction necessary to develop children's reading.  Some children may use a finer graded collection of books to develop their confidence as readers.

Following Government changes we have adopted the Twinkl phonics scheme.  This is supplemented by a range of quality resources to ensure the systematic teaching of synthetic phonics which allows children to become fluent in reading & writing.

If you have any questions regarding the curriculum we teach, please contact the school office directly.

Please see our Accessibility Plan in the 'Public Sector Equality Duty' tab, which details how we will increase access for disabled pupils.
