Curriculum

What does your child learn at school?

The intention of our broad and balanced curriculum is to provide the knowledge, skills and cultural capital learners need to succeed in life. The curriculum is delivered in a 2/3 yearly cycle which reflects the strengths of our small school structure. The curriculum map shows the breadth and progression of learning; it is a 'live' document which is regularly reviewed and updated by the staff team. The impact of the implementation of our curriculum is that pupils enjoy developing  detailed knowledge and skills, and achieve well.

Our reading scheme includes a variety of published scheme books to give the breadth of phonic led text, stories and non-fiction necessary to develop children's reading.  Some children may use a finer graded collection of books to develop their confidence as readers.

Our phonics scheme is based on 'Letters & Sounds', supplemented by a range of quality resources.

If you have any questions regarding the curriculum we teach, please contact the school office directly.

Our curriculum is organised into a 3-year topic cycle which allows us to cover the national curriculum in our mixed age classes. Letters are sent to families each term outlining the work for the term.
